Overview

Latorria Lemon, an alumna of Clark Atlanta University and the owner of Lemon Light Media, is organizing a special event on campus. She has invited R&B singer Leela James to speak to female students about the importance of hygiene and mental health. In addition, Leela will provide valuable professional and career advice to the attendees.

With only 48 hours until the event, there is a pressing need to promote it as widely as possible and to encourage female students on campus to attend and benefit from this unique opportunity.

Planning Process

1. Draft a well-crafted email and/or direct message to be sent to female campus chartered organizations urging them to participate in the upcoming event. Highlight the benefits of attending and emphasize the value of their presence.

2. Find a location on campus that is easy to reserve within a short time frame and has enough space to accommodate 20-25 students.

3. Design a visually striking flyer with engaging graphics and vibrant colors to capture attention on social media. Craft a compelling caption highlighting the key benefits of attending the event and encouraging female students to join in for an enriching experience.

Event Scope

Date: Thursday, October 5th, 2023

Time: 6:15 PM

Audience: Ideally, at least 20 female students.

  • Icebreaker:

    • Students will introduce themselves and name a Leela James song without looking it up or introduce themselves to another guest and post a photo to social with Hashtag #RightBackInItHBCUTour

  • “Fall For You”:

    • A segment of conversation about things that made the students fall for their majors or fall down the career paths they have chosen.

  • “Don’t Want You Back” or “Complicated”:

    • A segment where the students write down a list of things that may have gotten them off track during their studies or have kept them from reaching their goals.

  • “Right Back In It”:

    • The wrap up segment or activity to focus on future goals or ways to rebalance yourself to attain new goals.

    • A songwriting group activity being that Leela is also a songwriter, where we have the students come up with a song to the beat of Right Back In It about refocusing or attaining their goals for 2023-2024 school year.

    • Leela will also teach the students the viral dance to Right Back In It.

We crafted a persuasive direct message aimed at female campus chartered organizations to encourage their attendance at the event.

Additionally, we created a visually captivating design to be shared on Instagram and displayed around campus to promote the event.
